In-Studio with John Eisenhower of Integrity Tree Service.

Tip of the Week: If you have a palm tree, this is the time of year to get your trimming done. Listen for dates on each type of palm and when you should get to pruning.

Richard Adkins with the Arizona Community Tree Service presents our feature tree for the month; the Desert Ironwood tree.

Callers:

  • Beth – Has buffalo grass coming in and wants to get rid of it. What should she do?

Recommendation – Grab a shovel! Unfortunately, it’s just a lot of work with no tricks. Dig it up and back fill the missing soil.

  • Carol – She has a lemon tree and did not trim it last year. The branches are breaking off and she’s wondering if she can prune it this time of year.

Recommendation – Lemon’s trees produce a lot of fruit and thinning out the fruit early in the growth cycle will take some of the weight off of the branches when it starts to ripen.

In-Studio with Chris Stanfield of Stampede Plumbing

The guys discuss garbage disposal’s.

  • How big of a disposal do you need?
  • Operate them the proper way.
  • Cleaning them and eliminating odors.
  • We discuss Chris and Bill’s favorite brand.
  • Read your owner’s manual!

Callers:

  • Wayne – Has an odor issue that is only happening in the evening. He has p-traps and doesn’t think the vent is too short outside.

Recommendation – The P-trap is probably working fine, but it’s probably still the roof vent that’s causing the issue. It’s your cheapest option for a quick fix. Otherwise, it’s coming from the kitchen sink, so try running ice and lemons through the disposal and clean the back of the flap in the disposal.
