Julie King talks through being a homeowner with Solar.

Net Metering is not being off the grid - it's sending electricity back to the service provider and gaining credit.

Callers:
  • Why can't the electricity being sent back to the service provider help out the entire rate? Why a surcharge if you're contributing to the electricity?

Segment 3 (running time 13:22)

Callers:
  • Collette - tile roof. installed solar panels, and now seem to be getting brown streaks on underside of ceiling.
Have your solar company remove solar panels, but leave the expansions, so the roofer can seal as clearly as possible.

Who is a good candidate for solar?

You need to be in contract for an install before December 31st, you will avoid the $0.17/ KW surcharge

Callers:
  • Marcia - does the surcharge apply to SRP customers?

Not at this time.

  • Tom - being told he's not a candidate for solar because his bill is currently only $100/month

Segment 4 (running time 6:50)

Listen to this segment
Contact Harmon Solar for a free consult to see if it's valuable to you!

Callers:
  • If I were to lease solar panels, would the savings pay for the lease? Or should I just buy it, instead?

Recommendation: Proceed with caution! There are a lot of benefits to leasing, but it does leave the door open for deception and fraud if you choose the wrong company.
