How can I find and fix a reoccurring water leak from my shower?
Hi Rosie!I have a reoccurring problem with water leakage into the drywall near the bathtub. This problem has occurred off and on over the past 10 years. In an attempt to remedy the situation I have remodeled both this main bath (5 years ago) and the master bath (9 years ago) directly behind this wall. I installed a splash-guard on the tub about a year ago, and it doesn't seem to have made a difference at all. I do have three Grandchildren living with me, ages 5,6,7.
Could the damage to the drywall just be from the kids splashing in the tub? Or, do you think there is a leak in the plumbing somewhere.
Who should I contact to investigate the problem? A plumber? A Handyman?
Pictures attached to give you a look at what I'm talking about.
Thank You and Romey and Jennifer and all the folks behind the scene for the entertaining and informative Saturday mornings!!

Suggestions from Plumbing Partner Benjamin Franklin Plumbing:
A few idea’s to try: first could the plumbing been installed correctly, was the shower head installed with Teflon Tape, is the tub spout leaking? The drywall needs to be fixed anyway, they can open the drywall and see if the water is coming from the inside or not.
I would hire a good plumber when It comes to leaks. Many times we see leaks that come from people installing plumbing after time that was not installed correctly or others don’t have the knowledge to detect water leaks. Some are defiantly harder than others. We just don’t want to open walls without needing to.
